Introduction to Wilderness Survival        $75

This day session introduces the principles of survival in a classroom setting. Designed for those who wish to learn about the techniques, but cannot yet attend a longer course, it covers the basics of preparation, fire making, shelters, water procurement, and signalling. Students will be introduced to:

  • Pre trip planning

  • The psychology of survival

  • The Mini kit

  • The Rule of Threes

  • Quick shelters

  • Fire basics and spark based firemaking

  • Water procurement and sanitizing

  • Signalling

  • Obtaining food

Student will receive a basic guide to survival, an opportunity to build a personal mini kit, and a familiarity with the processes involved in preparing to survive.

The minimum age for this course is twelve years (12), however the minimum may be waived in order to accommodate Scouts, Guides, and other youth groups. A waiver must be presented for certain elements to be taught.

Wilderness mini courses of approximately one and a half hours duration are also available for youth groups. These focus upon selected skills, and are offered at $15.00 per student. Contact us for details.
